Excitement is building for the upcoming 23rd Asian Spinal Cord Network (ASCoN) Conference, scheduled to take place from November 23-25, 2024, in Nepal. This significant event marks the fourth time that Nepal has had the honor of hosting the conference, demonstrating the country’s commitment to improving care and rehabilitation for spinal cord injury (SCI) patients.
The conference, co-hosted by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD)/ Department of Health Services (DoHS)/ Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) and the Spinal Injury Sangh Nepal (SISN), will welcome over 350 participants from around the world. Attendees will include prominent PMR doctors, surgeons, nurses, therapists, researchers, policymakers, paramedics, and representatives from international organizations, all united under the conference theme, “Knowledge, Exchange and Technologies for Decentralized SCI Care.”
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a rigorous schedule of activities, including multidisciplinary workshops, scientific sessions, exhibitions, and even wheelchair sports, which highlight the importance of physical activity and inclusive practices in rehabilitation. The event will provide a platform for sharing research findings, discussing best practices, and fostering partnerships that have the potential to significantly improve specialized SCI services and primary health care.
Stefano Negrini and Carlotte Kiekens hold a workshop on "Rehabilitation research: how to produce, retrieve and implement evidence, and the role of Cochrane Rehab"
The ASCoN conference is expected to not only attract experts in the field of rehabilitation and spinal cord care but also serve as an inspiration for healthcare reforms that prioritize the needs of individuals with spinal injuries. It represents a unique chance to elevate local practices and integrate global innovations into Nepal’s healthcare framework.
Participants and interested parties are encouraged to register early to ensure their place at this landmark event. Further details and updates about the conference schedule can be found on the official ASCoN 2024 website.
