The French Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (SOFMER, https://www.sofmer.com/) is the French scientific society of PRM physicians (around 2,000 in France) and, as associate members, health professionals involved in care for disabled persons and chronic diseases. The strength of SOFMER is its generalist orientation to cover all fields of PRM. Thus, the scientific activities of the society are devoted to all the domains of PRM, including osteoarticular and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, cardiovascular rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, neurourology and neurosexology, neuromotricity, spinal cord injury, pediatric rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation, orthotics and prosthetics, physical activities, amputees, epidemiology of disabilities, sports medicine, and social sciences with an assumed orientation toward translational research. These activities are supported by 50 full professors of PRM and by The Annals of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (https://www.em-consulte.com/revue/rehab/), a generalist journal of rehabilitation with an impact factor at 5.39. Lastly, SOFMER encourages international collaborations to develop scientific projects. For this purpose, we try to organize our annual scientific meeting every two or three years in collaboration with the international academic society of PRM.
