Netherlands Society of Rehabilitation Medicine (VRA)

The VRA is the Netherlands scientific society of rehabilitation physicians, founded in 1955. The office is based in the city of Utrecht, Oudlaan.

Currently, around 600 rehabilitation physicians are members. In recent years, the VRA has taken many steps to improve the quality of Rehabilitation Medicine in the Netherlands. These steps include, among others, the establishment of our position paper “Actief naar zelfredzaamheid en eigen regie,” the development of various frameworks and guidelines to assure the quality of care, the national training plan “Beter in Beweging,” and the increasing cooperation with stakeholders both within and outside the rehabilitation sector. To encourage the exchange of (scientific) knowledge and views, and to stimulate cooperation between professionals, the VRA also holds regular meetings for healthcare professionals in the field of Rehabilitation Medicine.

Since its inception, the VRA has been a member of the Netherlands Federation of medical specialists (Federatie Medisch Specialisten, FMS). All member associations of this federation cooperate to ensure the highest possible quality and effectiveness of the specialist care given to patients in the Netherlands.
