Report WFNR 2019

The World Federation for NeuroRehabilitation

Cochrane Rehabilitation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Federation for NeuroRehabilitation (WFNR) in July 2018. WFNR, is a multidisciplinary organisation of professionals who work in neurological rehabilitation and in related fields, that brings together national and regional societies. WFNR promotes the development and the improvement of the quality of neurological rehabilitation across the world, stimulating the exchange of knowledge and scientific research between clinicians and others with an interest in neurological rehabilitation, including cooperation among National Scientific Societies addressing neuro-rehabilitation.

WFNR has been very active since the start of our formal collaboration with different initiatives.

WFNR started in 2018 the first two WFNR special interest groups on the Clinical Pathways "evidence to decision/recommendation":
1. Treatment of cognitive impairment after stroke – from systematic review evidence to clinical practice recommendations (review/research part done, publication to be prepared)
2. Treatment of post stroke depression (PSD) – from systematic review evidence to clinical practice recommendations (review/research part done, publication to be prepared)
Two further projects started in 2019:
1. Treatment of post stroke anxiety (PSA) – from systematic review evidence to clinical practice recommendations (protocol published)
2. Treatment of neurovisual disorders post stroke anxiety – from systematic review evidence to clinical practice recommendations (protocol pending).

A Cochrane symposium is scheduled at the 26th Jahrestagung der DGNR, 5-7 December 2019 in Leipzig, the yearly congress of the German neuro-rehabilitation society.
Furthermore preparations are ongoing to organize several sessions at WCNR2020 in Lyon, 7-10 October.2020. This congress will be organized in partnership with the French Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (SOFMER). The idea is to have:
1. Meet the professor breakfast seminar on Cochrane Systematic Reviews;
2. Cochrane workshop on how to read a Cochrane Systematic Review;
3. Cochrane symposium presenting the most recent Cochrane Systematic Reviews relevant for neuro-rehabilitation, followed by a round table discussion.

As per our agreement, WFNR is regularly spreading Cochrane Rehabilitation newsletter to all its members.
