Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (TSPMR)

The Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (TSPMR) was founded in 1958. It covers almost 90% of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) specialists as well as residents in Turkey. The main purpose of society is to promote training programs, research, and educational activities to follow new developments and innovations and to disseminate scientific knowledge in the field of PMR.

The Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has held the National PM&R Congresses biennially since 1967 with the last 29th National Congress in March 2022. The COVID-19 study group was constituted shortly after COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic. The study group has published many scientific and administrative papers, particularly about COVID-19-related issues in the field of PMR. The society also organized a web-based portal for its members, where they can access information, training, guidelines, and literature. In addition, an online education program was organized for PRM medical residency students during the outbreak.

TSPRM has an official journal, titled “Turkish Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (TJPMR),” which has been published since the beginning of 1960. TJPMR is published quarterly and is indexed by international databases such as Science Citation Index Expanded, Pubmed Centrale, EMBASE, Scopus earning, EBSCO, Index, Copernicus, and DOAJ (http://www.turkishjournalpmr.com or www.ftrdergisi.com). It has been approved as a “journal published in association with the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM).” After becoming a partner of Cochrane Rehabilitation, TJPMR began publishing Cochrane Corners quarterly in late 2019.
